Recent Happenings 4-12-08

The day after my last post of new wallpapers we had an electrical storm and it knocked out my network. In fact, it damaged my router. So I spent a couple of days trying to figure out what was going on, which turned out to be all the free time I had for making posts in the past couple of weeks. I have spent the time since getting everything fixed and replaced. I am now busy working on a new series of maps for work. I have quite a few wallpapers to post and hope to get at least one set posted by Monday and the rest will follow sometime next week.

A couple of weeks ago I was contacted by Darren Nelsen, a musician who was working on a fractal music project, about using one of the fractals for a cover for his project. You can check out the finished music (along with the cover) on Darren Nelsen's website. I was surprised by the music he came up with, very meditational and calming, I expected something a bit more chaotic since it is composed using fractals.

I have created a theme for an Xbox 360 for a content creation contest. Disruptive Publishers and N-Gage have a contest going on to get published on Xbox Live. I need some help with the voting though, I am behind in the contest by a few weeks since I did not hear about it till last week. So, if you are willing, would you go by my themes vote page and vote? I have been very busy this month with work and have not had time to run the batches of wallpaper I would on a normal schedule. I did manage to finally render a new batch over the past weekend, since I was not working through Easter, I set everything up to make one large batch. I will be posting all of the wallpapers for March before the month ends. I only need to process the images into the different sizes and create the Wallpaper Gallery pages. I hope to have the first batch posted by Friday and will post the rest through the weekend. Thanks for your patience, my apologies for not posting in a more timely manner.

New Wallpaper Gallery

With all the different sized wallpapers I am now creating I decided a new gallery was needed instead of the five different galleries. So I created http://gallery.grandgravey.com. I hope it is easier to use than what was passing as a gallery before. As always, comments are welcome, specially if you have an idea you feel would make the gallery better or easier to use. I have a new batch of wallpapers coming in a day or two. From now on I will release nine wallpapers at a time probably three or more times per month. At least that is the plan. I have other things in the works as well and hope to have them ready soon.

Zune and Iphone Wallpapers Added

I took the time to convert the previous wallpaper uploads into the Iphone 320 x 480 size and the Zune 240 x 320 size. You can find those wallpaper uploads in the Free Wallpaper Gallery. I will not be posting thumbnails or links to all those images, you will need to goto the repective galleries and browse the images there.

New Wallpapers for January 17, 2008

I am adding new wallpaper sizes this year. Now you will be able to get wallpaper for the Zune sized 240 x 320 and the Iphone sized 320 x 480. I have a Zune, have had for over a year, and when they rolled out the update in he last month or so things got real interesting so I started looking for wallpapers for it and found not many exist that I like. I don't have an Iphone but I got to looking around for wallpapers for it, I was curious, and found not too many that I liked either. So I now have two new galleries.

Wallpaper Showcase Video

I was messing around with Photobuckets video tools and came up with this little video. The tools are pretty good (Adobe Premiere). There are a few effects available, you can remix both images and video, add text, and they partnered with an indie music site to supply music, the song in the video is Derailed by The Big Creak. Just thought I would share the results, let me know what you think. Oh, speaking of wallpapers, I should have new wallpaper up soon.

Newest Batch of Wallpapers

New Stuff Coming

What a busy month November has turned out to be. I had computer problems stacked on top of a few time consuming work projects and my time for working on anything for this site went down the drain. Now, it seems Google is having problems with it's server, I recently purchased the GrandGravey.com domain to point to this site. It worked fine for awhile but now the Google servers keep returning a 502 error keeping anyone from seeing the site.

Anyhow, more screens are in the works, I have 4 screens from Halo 3 to put up in the next day or so and I have a decent list of new Fractals to be rendered. I hope to get something posted by this weekend and be able to post on a more normal schedule than once or twice a month. As with all things in my life right now, that all depends on the amount of free time I can make for this hobby blog.

I also have new things in the works for this site but I am reluctant to mention those things specifically until I know I have the time to make them happen. So for now I will just tease you by telling you you have to wait and see. Christmas is coming up and I had hoped to have some custom Christmas Cards for you to enjoy about now but it does not seem that will materialize this year.

Please be patient with me, I will get everything worked out and new content posted real soon.
