Bodyhack

I don't get it. What is patented here? Stem Cells or just the way they are researched, harvested, found? I see more and more where patents are being used to control research and innovation and it is saddening to know that change is needed and is just as stubbornly ignore it. Todays patent system is outdated and in need of innovation itself...Bodyhack

iTWire - Firefox zealots offer users money to switch from IE

I agree somewhat that the leading browser be open source. It just seems this is taking it to the extreme. Paying website owners for people switching, what a concept, they even have a script that won't allow you on a website unless you are running firefox. Seems they are not above M$ tactics... iTWire - Firefox zealots offer users money to switch from IE

Artist Miro's family upset with google doodle | news | CNET News.com

Artist Miro's family upset with Google doodle | News.blog | CNET News.com This is a real shame. The Artists Rights Society has no call to claim copyright violations, after all artistic styles are not copyrighted nor should they be if they were, art dealing in styles such as paintings and drawings would dry up. I myself am an artist and have studied various styles, the movements that went with them, and the artists who started them. So, unless this artist, who died in 1983 actually created the logo, he nor his family have any kind of copyright of it. As for works derived from another I really have no idea how the law reads but from my experience in college art classes works derived from others were never called on for copyright infringement.

Every 10-year-old kid knows that...-|-Reuters.com: "'It plays on an objectively determinable factual reality which cannot be denied...' the ASA" said about beans producing gas after consumption. In other words, they make you break wind.... So, now it is official, at least in Johannesburg, eating beans causes you to break wind.

Again the U.S. saves us?

This article Wired News: All Bets Are Off, Online Anyway discusses the US governments policy with online gambling, casino advertisement, etc and I have to say, our government sure does it's best to protect us from ourselves. I mean, who am I to decide for myself wether I can gamble online? I have no idea what else to say. I don't gamble and would not if it were legal but some of this really smacks of lost freedom to me...

Ride at your own risk?

SPACE.com -- Woman Dies After Riding Disney's 'Mission: SPACE': As much signage is out in front of this ride, signs that warn: "For safety, you should be in good health and free from high blood pressure, heart, back or neck problems, motion sickness, or other conditions that could be aggravated by this adventure." you would think someone with known problems or who gets winded or stressed out in exciting situations would even attempt to ride. My wife and I rode this and it was a blast, my wife had problems after regaining her "balance". She felt dizzy, dehidrated, and listless after riding, she has a controled high blood pressure problem and probably should not have rode. I personally think all rides are ride at your own risk, the park has an obligation to make sure the ride is safe from defects and they don't hurt or kill people, normal, healthy humans.
